Tips on Event Management Skills (Concert) / Finding Sponsors

We wil make this short and brief =) Gonna make this post worth reading to you.. Oh yea.. this is specially to those Youths or young entrepreneurs in Malaysia (if u r reading frm the other side of the world.. Drop out the Malaysian Tax and put in your own country's) Lets start..What must u consider be4 organizing an event? Concerts esspecially. =) Lets take a quick review.. BUTGET

  • Sound System
  • Lighting System
  • Changing Room
  • Ticket Printing
  • MACP(Music Author Copyright Protection)
  • PPM(Public Performance Malaysia)
  • Government Tax 5 %
  • Back Drop
  • Performers
  • Contingencies ( Emergency Use $ )
  • Police Permit ( For Gathering )
  • Hall Rental
  • Rehearsal These are the few things you need to consider before anything gets started. Once you have the budget availability, then you can carry out what ever event you wanna go with.. For the hall rental, choose a place where you are comfortable with ( considering how many audiences you are targettin, how big is your concert ) =) Remember to always have a company to support you .. with their registeration number (if u happen to be below 21 or do not have a company to refer to) Remember to always always PLAN AHEAD!!! you dun wanna be screwing up your own event last minute.. Put yourself in a situation when EVERYTHIN GOES WRONG... then you would know wad to do..
  • ITINARARY.. this is the most important part of all... You must plan which performer will be performing 1st and who is the last... The timeline.. and how is it done.. Sound System and lighting.. Remember to always have at least 5 practices b4 moving on to the stage =)
  • Finally Sponsors... I have several people actually coming up to me and asked about sponsorship.. This is what I will answer them... DO NOT ASK FOR MONEY!!! this is definitely a NO NO NO to any sponsors.... (unless the sponsor happens to know you / u have connections with them) Ask for something that u require... Such as Back Drop ( Which will cost almost RM 1000 ) and that can save u an amount of money already... Or you could ask for decoration wise... ( Buntings / Banners )... In return you will give them complimentary seats, having the company's name / logo on the sponsored things, thank you announcements, anything that can deal with publicity benefits =)
  • You can also advertise your event for free in STAR newspaper at the what's up column.. Write a small article on your event and fax it to 04-6473396.. Find low budgetted ways to advertise your event.. Photostated Flyers or spread by mouth... Make sure u have a team to support you too =)

ENTREPRENEUR IN YOUTH'09

HEY THERE!!!! this is the best Event ever that I have organized so far =) 23 students from SMK St George Penang and KDU Penang went all the way from Penang to KL just to join the Largest Youth Lifestyle Revolution in Malaysia!! =) First of all, I wanna thank those who gave their support/helped to sponsor the students in this Event... Ada Ho Kah Leng, Joel Neoh, Ng Khailee, SMK (P) St George Penang and Dr Lim Say Huat.. After Joel kinda say "Is JAZZ TAN in the hall??" during the National Youth Entrepreneur Convention 09,
"She is the qualifier in Nescafe KickStARt for Entrepreneur and her proposal is about creating a portal on the internet for sponsor seekers and sponsorers to meet.." Thanks to his support.. Mr Ng Khailee.. ( Great Guy.. Awesome to work with him.. From him I learnt to manage, to be efficient, convey msg online without meeting, writing proposals, how to influnce potential sponsorers, what is required to be "the one" for the bosses..the list goes on.. Knowing him is the BEST that happened in ma life =) Thanks Khailee Not to miss out Joel Neoh too =) His stories, actions and passion helped and guided me thru the journey... Planning a KL trip requires SO MUCH work that I broke down so many time.. Askin over 144 companies with no feedback or rejected everyday.. I learnt not to give up till the very last day =) Pulled thru.. **TO BE AN ENTREPRENEUR IS TO BE PASSIONATE ON WHAT YOU DO..AND NEVER GIVING UP!!***

I love this the most.. CAREER!! as an Entrepreneur of cozz.. they got student exchange programmes.. and u can work while u plaY!!! in USA =) there are also.. work to fight of current issues in the world like Global Warming, AIDS/HIV... great stuff!! so much in Youth'09
Finally.. this is me =) before Entering " A Journey to the Centre of My Heart and soul ".....Thanks to Youth'09 and 2nd National Youth Entepreneur Convention... I found...myself =)
